Rail suffering damage such as wheelburns, squats, cracks (transverse defects) and in some cases rolling contact fatigue, does not have to be replaced. By using Hedkote®, it can be repaired and returned to original condition while remaining in-situ thereby extending the service life of the rail many times. Repair costs are generally 20% of using new rail and there are no installation costs as the work can be done in track. In many cases the repair work can be carried out without stopping traffic.
