Rail components, in particular crossings (frogs) and switchblades, do not need to be thrown away when they become worn. With Hedkote®, the service life of worn components can be extended many times by rebuilding them back to original condition. Normally this would be conducted while the component remains in-situ. The cost for rebuilding a component is approximately 10% – 20% of the cost of purchasing a new component and there are no installation costs. Normally, the work can be carried out without stopping traffic.
